Hiked up to Rocky Brook Falls. Swimming with the dog.
Walked the dog at Newberry Hill Heritage Park. Trying to burn off some of her energy while we walked some of the trails we had not covered yet.
First "long" backcountry hike with 10 year old son. He carried all of his own gear (10 essentials, including food and H2O - 10lb pack). We hiked in for lunch and some play time at the lake and inlet stream, then hiked out.*Lost GPS satellites about 1/2 back on the return - I had to edit the track manually on EveryTrail to complete the map.
Out with the family and the dog...
2011 Bataan Memorial Death March. Completed with my Dad! Looking forward to 2012...
I grew up playing soccer at this park, and once upon a time, almost 20 years ago now, we lived within walking distance (we actually lived in a cabin right on Battle Point!). We have frequented the park over the years, but not recently.Took the boys and the dog for a little jaunt around the park, nabbed a cache, and called it quits a bit early once we were all soaked! ~25lb.
Stalin and I did a short little jaunt with 25 pound rucks for PT on Sunday while all the other lazy bones played hoops. Beautiful morning for a walk...
Put on the ol' boots and a light (15lb) pack with my Dad and the dog. This is the first actual training hike in preparation for the Bataan Memorial this upcoming year. Last year, I did it without any, and my feet suffered heavily. This was a short jaunt - the pace was respectable, but not fast. The pack was light, but I was wearing my boots.
J-Man planned this hike to fulfill a Scouting requirement... The whole family enjoyed a rainy afternoon hike through the north end of Illahee Preserve. No geocaching today.
J-Man, the dog, and I headed out on a nice afternoon while the rest of the family was at a birthday party. We had some trouble and had to log a DNF for the first geocache we tried... We achieved success on the second cache, however! We would have liked to have hit a few more in the area, but were running out of Fall daylight and decided to pack it in.
One route hiked on 9/11/10 in Squak Mountain State Park. Out of the group, this was the longest route hiked, and encompassed both the west and central peaks. The hike included two extended breaks for food and water (one at each peak). Since the trees still have all their foliage, there were no real views on this hike, although the setting and scenery were still beautiful.
This was going to be a unit 'morale & team building' event, but after reading the trail description and looking at a topo, my RNCO and I decided to do a trail recon.
