Met in Grand Mound and headed up to the put in spot on Littlerock road. Debated whether to take out on Schooland road or go all the way to the highway. Finally decided on the shorter trip which turned out to be the correct decision.
Very little flow in the river. Wind was blowing up river and made it seem as if the flow was going the other way. Windy at times during the day.
Class II rapids dump n00b.
Wanted to try paddling up the Duwamish. On paddling.com they have a put in site for Codiga park. Checked it out but there was a good 100 yard portage to get to the water. Thought I'd see if I could come up with a place with a shorter walk and went back a put in site I had found previously.
Pretty nice day on the water
Trying an easy loop to Inside Passage.
Forecast of lightning and actual lightning on the drive over in the North Bend area. Skies were better at the trail head though we did get rained on. We decided to travel up the trail with the expectation at the first sight or sound of lightning we would turn around. Didn't expect to make the summit and definitely didn't expect any views.
Didn't make it all the way to the end but this is a pretty grueling climb. There is a high point around 2600 feet where the trail gets a lot rockier and thinner. Still saw several people past that point. This is a great smooth roller riding down.
The direct East side of Rainier is a mini rain shadow. We had a beautiful sunny day but the rest of Western Washington likely was cloudy and sprinkly most of the day. This is a wonderful snow scramble with good glissading.
Alpine scramble. Snow, rock, route finding, boulder hopping. A little bit of everything.
Loop around Silkworm, loop back to Parasite, and one more time around Silkworm. Good skill building trails.
Mountaineers scramble field trip. An attempt on Earl peak but we ran out of time and just made a ridge loop. Sunny and hot. Good views. Great day to be out.
A small peak on the South of Chair. One participant had leg cramps so we waited at the top of the scary snow chute while the rest of the group went up to the summit. Nice day. Great views. Challenging snow scramble and nice rock scramble at the top.
Dark and drizzly day up to Hemlock peak. Somewhat low snow but enough to be a work out.
Trip up to Cherry Falls and then down one of the bike trails.
Mountaineers student kayak. Went out to the Ballard locks, over to Discovery for lunch, and then in the water for rescue practice and back out again. Nice day with little wind made for a great and mostly easy trip.
First field trip at this location. Nice sunny, hot, day. Fun on the rock.
Mountain biking up Grand Ridge and then a couple trails at Duthie. Grand Ridge a bit to rocky bumpy for my tastes.
Was trying to explore snow conditions at the base of Super Couloir. Ended up traveling a lot further than I wanted to. Good conditioner though. I have summited McClellan from the North in the past but I was more looking for a quick easy route to the snow gully than getting to the top. Terrain was a little more difficult than hoping for, maybe there is another way up.
Quick evening conditioner up Mt Si.
Another mountain bike up the Raging River trails. This time we went up to viewpoint by the cell towers. Some patches of snow by the towers but mostly sunny and clear.
