The insistence of warning signs looked rather ominous , but the slumbering sheep suggested there was no real impediment . In any case , there is a public footpath just over the river .A little haze and a persistent wind , but nothing in the forecast to give any problems other than sun-flaying , so a pretty loose walking plan . As it was I wandered up to Bleaklow Stones , then ambled to the Wain Stones , pottered to Grains in the Water , and then decided to come back down the Alport . Golden Plover were strident , cloudberry thriving , and hares abundant .
