Story

Tana Toraja can be reached by bus from Makassar.  Buses leave from the Daya terminal and stop at Rantepao in Tana Toraja.  Both overnight and day buses are available between Makassar and Rantepao.  Tickets can be booked in advance; but very advance booking is generally not required.  We went by the overnight AC Bus: Rp 75000 per person (push back seats; but not sleeper.  Some buses have toilet attached).   We stayed at Wisma Irama; Rp 100000 for a bath-attached double room (with breakfast). Motorcycles are available for a rent of Rp 65000/ day. Petrol (locally Benzine) is Rp 4500 in gas station ( Rp 6000 in small road side shops). Entrance fee in all major burial sites is Rp 10000 per person. A lantern is needed to see the cave burial site in Londa. Gas lamps are available there for a rent of Rp 25000. There is a government tourist office in Rantepao and also ATMs and Internet booths. Buses to Makassar start from Rantepao (AC Bus: Rp 75000 per person).See Photos
