The idea was to leave early and beat the heat. I failed. Left an hour later and left the chafe cream, towel and sunglasses at home. lolRoute was Manchester all the way into the city and then downtown. Downtown was an awesome ride and I stopped frequently to see the sites. I was amazed at the foot traffic down at the Arch. Funny thing, I couldn't figure out how to get from the Arch grounds to the river, so I cut through a parking garage. Once downtown, the plan was to take the riverfront trail 10 miles to North St. Louis then pop over to Forest Park. I decided to change up when I realized I forgot all those things. lolMetro was a convenient option from Lacledes Landing to the Sunnen Station. When I got off at Sunnen I was surprised to see Laclede Station closed. I have a mountain bike hybrid, right? Why not cut through the massive construction project. This was an awesome idea until I got stuck in the mud. The rest of the ride home was hot, humid and tough. 24 miles overall, but enjoyable.
