Story
This was our first attempt at finding Tin Cup Joe falls. Actually, our first time to Middle Fort / Snoqualmie trailhead. We had heard reports about this road being bone-jarring, and they are all true. Take a 4x4 if you can. Nearly everything at the trailhead was a 4x4 SUV or Subaru. Not sure how some of the smaller cars made it without busting an axle. The road is really, really bad, and the trailhead, even on a rainy December Saturday, was busy. The trail starts out with a left at the end of an awesome wood bridge. It is well-maintained along the river, and the glimpses out at the surrounding area are great. You cross several small foot bridges along the way (very slippery due to algae / moss / ice), with quite a few in need of repair. Several places along the river bank have disappeared into the river, so the trail can be a bit challenging in spots.. Lots of fallen trees across the trail. lots of creeks and a nice waterfall. Rock slides and mud slides evident.Made it to the large bridge crossing Cripple Creek and it's waterfall. If it's raining, or has been raining, be careful under the bridge - it's slippery. Both attempts with this hike had us coming back in the dark, wearing headlamps. This trail is quite flat so really not great as a running trail for us.
