Hidden from view between Victoria Reservoir and Orange Kloef is a wonder world of a milk woods forest, carpets of moss and rocky nooks and crannies - an explorer's paradise!

Every year the new students in the National Astrophysics and Space Science Programme - www.star.ac.za - embark on a hike on Table Mountain as part of their pre-academic year summer school programme. This year we began in Newlands forest, headed up to the contour path and then up Newlands ravine.

This is one of Table mountain's hidden gems with incredible views of Orange Kloef, subterranean forests, rocky nooks and crannies and a narrow hole that links one side of the mountain to the other!

A perfect morning for one of the hiking jewels of Table Mountain. An exciting assent to the to the top up the "Three Firs" route was followed by an excursion into the depths  of Tranquility Cracks and breakfast on the balcony overlooking Camps Bay and Lion's head. We descended back to the Pipe Track via Corridor Ravine after which the new NASSPies headed for lunch on the beach front.

Ah Venice, spectacularly beautiful and truly unique. Everyone should visit this amazing city once in their lives and spend several days exploring the narrow streets and getting completely lost. Try and avoid the over-priced tourist eateries and do what the locals do - pop into Venice's bacari for cicheto and ombra (a small glass of wine).

One of my favourite corners of the Cape, with caves, nooks, crannies and indigenous forests to explore.....

If you like scrambling and exploring nooks and crannies, this one is for you. There are also breathtaking views over Constantia Nek and Orange Kloof, making the bushwhacking efforts worthwhile.

A walk that has everything from magnificent views over Orange Kloof, to squeezing through a "Hole in the Wall"  to emerge in a hidden indigenous forest.

A lovely hike across the mountain, starting with a stroll along the Pipe Track and then making a rapid assent up the Three Firs route.  From the top, we crossed Slangolie ravine and made a detour to the subterranean cracks which shelter a number of ancient yellowood trees, and out onto a marvellous breakfast deck with a magnificent views of Camps Bay and Lion's Head below.

Another wonderful drive to end what has been a memorable visit to Sanbona Game Reserve. The family of white lions was the highlight, even though they were some distance away.
