Story

A quick burst of Spring sunshine and finally hearing a cuckoo suggested a trip to see how the Labrador Tea plant near the Barrow stones was coming on after the cold start to the year . Linch Clough at stream level made sense at the start , as the cloud wasn't likely to lift till later morning . The sun came out just as I reached the drainage/boundary ditch on Ridgewalk Moor , and I had one of the pleasantest walks I've ever had on this usually glutinous track . The peat had dried just enough to be firm and springy , and I almost bounced my way along . Two golden plovers chivvied me on my way over Grinah Stones to the the mystery plant .The mystery is how it got there . The history and details can be found at http://www.derby.gov.uk/apps/flora/?SpeciesID=969  . It can be tricky to locate. I was lucky , it was just coming into flower , and the moor was kind .The rest of the walk is just pleasant meandering around the Barrow Stones and a return down the Derwent valley .
