Story

Hello,I had no idea I was going on a bike ride until late last night. All I could dream about was where to ride. lolThis weekend we have a ton of housework to do, so I knew the trip had to be quick, 2 hours and 20 miles, but I wanted to go somewhere I haven't been. Missy challenged me to ride 141 last week, so it sounded good to me. The route is circuitous since I didn't want to duplicate any portion of it. Unlike last week riding in the blast furnace, the temperature was perfect. 70 degrees to start out at 7am and 85 when I finished at 9:30am. The highlights:1) Scariest part of the trip was the beginning of Big Bend. No shoulder and really no where to bike. 2) Best part of the trip was the Simpson Trail along the Meramec River. Tree covered and paved, the trail allows you to enjoy the river, the shade and the cool air. 3) Worst part was Des Peres Road. Uphill and uphill and uphill. 4) Surreal part was the top of west county mall before they opened. I wish I knew how to do the tilt shift photography as it would have been excellent. 5) Coolest part was the Bausch and Lomb building in Tree Court Industrial Park. There are a few pics of it, but it is the coolest retro late 60s office building I know of. When the Zombies attack, I am holing up there. As for 141, you can ride on it. Very wide shoulders that are clean and debris free. I wasn't the only person riding on it, so I felt good. This means that crossing the Meramec is very easy now.
